Light is one of the life’s most basic necessities, yet many underprivileged families spend their nights without it.

In a research conducted by Swiss-based non-profit organization Stiftung Solarenergie (Solar Energy Foundation), Filipino households with a monthly budget of P7,000 use 230 candles in one year, eight batteries in one month and one liter of kerosene in one week—but often, these do not provide sufficient lighting.

As part of its efforts to provide off-grid communities access to sustainable lighting, Stiftung Solarenergie is organizing a benefit run dubbed Run for Light on July 21, 2012 at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The proceeds of the run will go to funding solar lighting solutions for beneficiary families.

Solar ambassadors Gilbert Remulla, Kim Atienza and Erwan Heussaff will be among those joining the run, with many more running enthusiasts expected to take part.

I would like just to bring to your attention about the run this morning…i was on my last 2 kilometers when the heavy rains poured and then after the turn from the S&R area..there were no more marshals to direct the remaining runners for the 10k heavy rains and it was almost impossible to see the directional markers were no where to be found neither were the marshals so i and two (2) other runners were lost…may i stress that i am not running against the other runners but i want to make my personal best time in this run…but i got lost and so the time that was my target for myself was lost too…next time please take care of the runners whether there is heavy rains or not..and the marshals should know their duties…thank you
