Haribon announces start of the tree planting this June 16, 2012.The month of June signifies not only the start of the rainy season; but it’s all the onset of Haribon Foundation’s tree planting season!
Last November 2011, Haribon held the Million Hectare Challenge 2011 with the theme “One for the ROAD to 2020”. Included in the race kit of the registered participants was a certificate wherein one seedling shall be planted in honor of the runner to help bring life back to the Philippines’ denuded forests.
… And now is the time to plant these seedlings!
Let us all be one for the ROAD to 2020! ROAD to 2020 is an environmental conservation movement to restore one million hectares of Philippine rainforests using native tree species by the year 2020. The movement aims to plant native tree species in order to recover and conserve biodiversity, optimize our supply of forest benefits and ecosystem services, reduce the risks of natural hazards such as landslides, and enhance options for sustainable livelihood.
